Commonly known as SEO, the search engine optimization is the task of augmenting the volume and quality of traffic to a website from search engines using “natural” (organic or algorithmic) search results. Usually a site has higher number of visits when it ranks higher or comes at first few numbers when keywords are typed in the search engines.
SEo can also target some specific kind of search such as image search, local search and industry specific vertical search engines.
SEO's basically consider that how search algorithms work and what is it that most people on an average search on the internet. In order to promote a site, an
SEO may do almost everything beginning from its coding, presentation and structuring to fixing problems that could prevent search engine indexing programs from fully spidering a site. This may also include adding unique content to a site in such a way that it is easily indexed by search engine robots. Apart from this,

Quite often the abbreviation SEO indicates Search Engine Optimizers i.e. persons who either individually or as a company carry out optimization process on behalf of clients. As the demand for internet is increasing day by day, there is a surge in the number of SEO's and
Seo Firm especially in developing countries like India.
The SEO work started around 90s when webmasters and content providers began optimizing sites for search engines by submitting the URL of their site to various search engines which would send a spider to “crawl” that page, extract links to other pages from it and return information found on that page to be indexed. The site owners soon succeeded in getting good page rank and made huge profits. As a result numerous opportunities opened for both the white hat and the black hat
SEO practitioners. According to Danny Sullivan, the earliest known use of the phrase “search engine optimization” was a spam message posted on Usenet on July 26, 1997.
SEO gained prominence in 1998 with the invention of Google, a search engine that relied on a mathematical algorithm to rate the web pages. The number calculated by the algorithm, PageRank, is a function of the quantity and strength of inbound links. Though Page Rank seemed difficult, webmasters have developed link building tools and schemes to influence the Inktomi search engine, and these methods proved similarly applicable to gaining PageRank. Many sites were constructed to deal with exchange, buying and selling of links on a large scale.
However search engine optimization is not necessarily an ideal strategy for every website. There are other internet marketing techniques that may be of greater use depending on the aims of the site operator.
SEO may generate a return or investment but search engines aren’t paid for organic search traffic, their algorithms change and there is also no guarantee of continued referrals. |
